Fourth of July Inspiration

Here's a great Fourth of July wedding I came across on TheKnot:

"The couple kept their engagement a secret for a week before telling Kelsey's family at her parents' Fourth of July barbeque in Key West. The happy occasion inspired the couple's red, white and blue wedding colors. The bride's other inspiration: The vintage carnival scene in the movie The Notebook."

Welcome to our newest coordinator :: Noelle

I'd like to officially welcome Noelle to the Amy Nixon Events family!

Last year Noelle successfully completed our summer internship, and since our business is growing we have brought her permanently on staff as a coordinator. Kim & Mike's wedding this past weekend was her first Amy Nixon Events wedding on her own, and she did a fabulous job!

We're so happy to have a talent like Noelle on our team, and we look forward to many more weddings to come!

Congratulations Kim & Mike!

Kim & Mike's wedding took place this past weekend in Sandusky at the Sunnybrook Trout Club. They booked all 10 rooms of the bed & breakfast for themselves and the wedding party to stay at, and held the ceremony and reception on the grounds as well.

The ceremony was held under the gazebo behind the bed & breakfast, and the reception in a large white tent just off to the side. Guests gathered in a semi-circle around the gazebo to watch Kim & Mike exchange their vows, and then everyone moved to the tent for cocktail hour, dinner and dancing.

This wedding was full of personal touches from the bride. The blue and green table runners were all hand made by the bride, as were the strawberry jam favors for the guests.

Best wishes to the happy newlyweds!

Congratulations Molly & TJ!

This was such a super fun wedding! We traveled down to Columbus and stayed at the Renaissance hotel for the entire weekend. The majority of the wedding party was from out of state, so this was a destination wedding for almost everyone in attendance!

The ceremony was held at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in downtown Columbus, which happens to be the oldest church in the state. The reception was in the Olympian Ballroom at the Columbus Athenaeum, a gorgeous landmark building which is also located downtown, just a few blocks from the church. The cocktail hour was held upstairs in the loft area, overlooking the reception area below. The decor was simple and elegant...black table linens with black chair covers, green and white paper flowers scattered on the tables, and candle centerpieces gave the room a soft romantic glow. The bridesmaids carried bouquets of gerbera daisies, all in a different color, and their partnered groomsman had a boutonniere to match.

There were surprises left and right! During the introductions each couple had come up with their own funny entrance. The bride and her father started out their dance to Somewhere Over The Rainbow, then it abruptly stopped and changed to Gettin Jiggy With It, and then concluded with the Electric Slide, during which they invited everyone else to come out and finish the dance with them. Another great surprise was when TJ went to remove the garter and came up with a rubber chicken, lol. The song chosen for the garter removal was "Hot for Teacher", since Molly is a teacher back home in Virginia.

Congratulations to Molly and TJ - you are truly a special couple, and you have both have such wonderful families. I know you'll have a life full of love and happiness together. Thank you for letting me share in the official beginning of your new life! It was a beautiful occasion, and it was a pleasure working with you!

Also, I have to send a special thanks to Christin Berry (one of my lovely brides from last June) who referred this couple to me.

Follow me, tweeps!

Oh yes....we're on Twitter....it's so addictive!

Design Theme :: Black + White + Damask

In looking over my blog, I noticed a trend of black & white damask in the photos. I had 2 weddings recently with the black & white theme, and I'm seeing it used in every design combination possible. So, I decided to do an inspiration board on it. And change my background. :)

I love that this is popular right now. You can pair any color from the rainbow with black & white damask and it will look fabulous. Hot Pink, Dusty Blue, Gold, Pewter, Orange, Yellow, Green, Purple, Deep Red... your accent color possibilities are endless!
